"A Taste of Politics: Women's Suffrage in New Jersey 1776 to 1807"

I have no idea how a history major ended up in computers and not writing books, but somehow God has a plan for everything.

I graduated from essentially two colleges/universities and didn't have to write a senior thesis, but this paper is especially dear to my heart. I was planning on expanding it into a full-length book, but I will probably have to wait until I get laid off. :)

My mother once told me that women could vote in New Jersey and that it was the only place that women could vote before the 19th Amendment. Every one of my history teachers didn't think it was true, but in my "History of the Delaware Valley" class at Temple University, Professor Harris mentioned this topic as an aside.

I immediately knew that this was the paper for me to write, but no one had really written anything on it which meant a full vacation of original research. The only place to do this research is the Newark Public Library. If you know Newark, you know that it is probably not the nicest place in the world anymore.

But, my mom and dad decided that if their daughter needed to go to Newark, they would come too. My mom happily did more genealogical work and my dad paced back and forth between us making sure muggers didn't jump out from behind the microfilm machine and do us an injury.

Without further ado, I present to you my paper (on the following 13 pages). This is dedicated to my parents for their supportiveness to me and my sisters in any project that we set our minds to.

"A Taste of Politics: Women's Suffrage in New Jersey 1776 to 1807"

NOTE TO STUDENTS: Do not steal this paper or any part of it and try to pass it off as your own. Plagiarism will get you kicked out of school. Trust me and Washington Post: professors look on the internet to see where you found your papers.
