QUOTES

I often catch myself wishing that I wrote down certain passages or lyrics or poems that have touched me in some way. (Inspired by Madeleine L'Engle.) I started to hand-write them into a journal (like her) but then realized that I don't really remember how to write anymore. This will be a much better system and, as a bonus, you can see them too without having to read the whole book. Enjoy!

Sister Ruth, SLG
O God, let me rise to the edges of time and
open my life to your eternity;
let me run to the edges of space and
gaze into your immensity;
let me climb through the barriers of sound
and pass into your silence;
And then, in stillness and silence
let me adore you,
Who are Life?Light-Love?
without beginning and without end,
the Source?the Sustainer?the Restorer?
the Purifier?of all that is;
the Lover who has bound earth to heaven
by the beams of a cross;
the Healer who has renewed a dying race
by the blood of a chalice;
the God who has taken man into your glory
by the wounds of sacrifice;
God . . . God . . . God . . . Blessed be God
Let me adore you.
From Kathy:I found this prayer/poem when Michelle lent me her Oxford Book of Prayer. I love this book. I plan to keep it almost as long as I have kept her little black fan. :) After I give it back, though, I will still have this prayer here to reflect upon. Yeah quote page!

Madeleine L'Engle
I sit on my favourite rock, looking over the brook, to take time away from busyness, time to be. I've long since stopped feeling guilty about taking being time; it's something we all need for our spiritual health, and often we don't take enough of it.
...
When I am constantly running there is no time for being. When there is no time for being there is no time for listening. I will never understand the silent dying of the green pie-apple tree if I do not sit down and listen to what the Spirit is telling me, telling me of the death of trees, the death of planets, of people, and what all of these deaths mean in the light of the love of the Creator, who brought them all into being, who brought me into being, and you.
From Kathy:I love this quote because it is a reminder that we all (including me) need to take time to just rest and "be". I usually am running around so much that it becomes imperative that I take a Saturday to just sit and contemplate my navel.
